ReFabulous Decor

Anne-Marie Eddy here blogging to you from the fabulous island of Martha's Vineyard.  Many people know it as the place where the President vacations or for the famous Black Dog Restaurant and shops.  My husband and 3 daughters call it home.  We have owned a tent and party rental company here called Big Sky Tent & Party Rentals now for over 17 years!  We moved from Boston, left our corporate jobs behind (my husband was a tired lawyer!), and took a leap of faith to start the rental business.  We do mostly weddings and weddings and weddings!  All good!

I have loved working at our business where I started out do dishes and laundry and carrying chairs to job sites.  Over the years my job morphed in to more of the marketing side...I loved organizing and stylizing photo shoots.  I'll show more of the photo shoots later!  Designing shoots for our photo shoots is what led me to a lot of DIY projects.  I made pennant flag garlands, spray painted everything I could, sourced a lot of rustic items...here's a few shots of a candy bar photo shoot we did with the amazing photographer Jocelyn Filley.  We make also make our own farm table for our events!

I absolutely love the ice cream, sweet-heart chairs for these decorative shoots.  I sourced the candy jars from all over; thrift shops, TJMaxx, yard sales, you name it!  Lots of ribbon and tags really add the final touch - oh, and the candy, of course!

As you can see, I love using old, a little distressed furniture and flea market finds.  The dresser has been in our family for years, it was my kids's diaper changing table and I don't have the heart to throw it away. But it's on my list to paint with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Yes, AS Chalk Paint is my newest addiction and has been for over the past year.  I event painted the milk jug with it in Duck Egg Blue. the small frame, the the votives, and mason jars.

My daughter, Annabel, enjoying the benefits of the "job".

I LOVE ribbon, if you can't tell.  Antique lace runners and bird cages and interesting bottles and small vases.  I've also collected a lot of vintage plates and vessels that we use for events and for photo shoots.

This is my backyard - yes, we are very lucky.  We enjoy the most spectacular sunsets on the island, we look over the tall grasses and the ocean and have our own osprey nest (to the left).

Anyway, like many people in this day and age, I've become a DIY!  It all started with making jewelry.   Ok, I'll save that for my next post.  Thanks for joining me on this journey.  xx
